Airbase Coventry today.

The weather looked good but the wind was a problem for some. It was almost a direct crosswind and the active end changed frequently!!

I didn't see it leave Airbase. :( Had JPT problem in morning. It had some attention but still no joy and one of the engineers was overheard to say 'Put her back in the hangar', so I left at around 15.00.

Jack I understand that WK163 still flies although I haven't seen it do so for some time.

Excellent shots! Hope its that sunny at the weekend.

Last I heard regarding the Canberra was that they are still looking for an engine for it after one got damaged in a birdstrike? I've seen pictures of the dead engine and it was pretty mangled inside.

Thanks for that info Rich. BTW 963 looked superb in the sun. Locked up unfortunately :( but I am a Classic Flight Club member and Bagington is only 30 mins away so I will return.

Will do! Any Saturday and we're there.

If all goes well the next run will be on the 30th.

Rich

Edited to add:

Went to our storage yesterday and saw the Canberra engine in the flesh. Very messy! Damage to all the turbine blades on first 12 stages.

Compressor rotor/stator blades I rather expect? Must have been some sort of titanium armoured bird to have made it to the turbine blades...... ;)

Compressor blades then... whatever they are called, they go round and are at the front in rows.

(there's no pistons in there so its all witchcraft :)) )

If there had have been a piston in there, that would have explained why all the compressor blades decided to leave in a hurry!! ;)
