In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Thanks for that M.F. nice to see at least one airfield that hasn't succumbed to the building of new homes!

Would be nice to see Council using up the other brown field sites first!

Councils always seem to have it in for airfields. Fife airport is under threat again- this time because a local firm situated with in the Fife zone, directly on the final approach to RW25 has applied for permission to erect a 121m wind tower......many predict Fife airport will close if it goes ahead.
Portmoak gliding club now has a house being built right at the end of the runway that the power planes use - how stupid is that? ~x(

Here's anorther one going .... Mr Sainsbury's cheque book calls the shots :ymdevil:

Penzance Heliport !!

Guess what - Tescos top left - Morrisons bottom right ....... more supermarkets needed ?????

Image

End of an era there ... been flying from that site since the 60s :(

They first mooted the idea last summer but citing reduction in fuel costs by moving to Lands End Airport..... then they dropped it - all of a sudden its going ahead and now its Lands End OR Newquay ...Fuel costs MMmmmmm ;) Bets on Newquay then :p

One of the responses is interesting ....

The latests news is that British International are considering moving their operations to St Just and/or Newquay Airport.
Now Cornwall Council 'own' the gross atmosphere polluting Newquay Airport which runs at around a £5M loss per annum.
This makes Cornwall Council a direct commercially interested party.
What are the chances of proper objective planning scrutiny and proper environmental, social and infrastructure impact assessment of such an unnecessary and increased carbon footprint relocation?
Cornwall Council's low carbon policy claims shot to shreds?

I love driving past there and seeing the Sikhorsky take off about 20 feet away from you whilst you drive by - and as for flying on it - an amazing experience :D

Nightmare - another supermarket and another airport facility lost ~x(
