Brize Norton 2nd June 2009

Postby Gully » Tue Jun 02, 2009 10:02 pm

Made a fairly pointless detour to spend 6 hours waiting for a hint of flying at Brize today! :-o :(( Tristar took off as I arrived and another Tristar landed mid-afternoon. Oh, and an Alpha Jet flew over. Whoopeee! ~x( Thank goodness ibw123 was there to natter to!

What was going on? Did I miss the RAF special Tuesday holiday announcement?

probably find that the bean-counters in Whitehall have just received a report from a Gov't think-tank, requested by a cross-bench committee, overseen by a specially-appointed panel, chaired by a retired high court judge, saying that the statistics show that no-one has ever attacked another country on a Tuesday before, and that the RAF must "make cost-savings in any way possible"

or maybe you were just unlucky =))

Here's the photographic evidence of what I actually saw on Tuesday...

Spotters' Path (08 end)

A passing egg-beater

Lunchtime

Activity!!

Image

Followed by lots more of this...
Image

Nearest we got to a VC10 was an engine run by the one immediately adjacent to the hanger!
Image

A visitor from Boscombe Down
Image

A passing Alpha Jet
Image

Then an even longer period of tumbleweed followed by these visitors
Image

Image

Just as I was leaving, this passed over - wow! (where's the sarcasm smiley?!)
Image

Saw a few Tornados around and lots of high-level traffic
Image

And that was it! Still, a pleasant day in the sunshine avoiding gardening! But I've still not seen a VC10 take-off... aarrrrgh!

Cheers,

Gully

PS. Tried the photobucket bulk uploader on these, which whilst being faster seems to affect the quality, so apologies for the "noisy" images!
