Had an email from a friend of mine, who told me about his memory of the Harriers. It is as follows:
I remember as a lad in in 1962 going to RAF Upavon with my father who was in the RAF (stationed at RAF Odiham at the time) to a demonstration of the P1127. It was fantastic and really unbelievable. So it is a shame that the Harriers are going ahead of their time.

Wyton is closest to me...........

Without resorting to low flying myself?

Well, we thought they were the red arrows at first, but they were neither red nor 9, nor did they sound like Hawks and we're pretty used to the reds as they use our house as a turning point.
So had a look on Fighter control forum and it's way too much of a coincidence.

http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/v ... 16&t=23834

So that's that, I'm pretty hacked of to be honest.

I know 14th was down as a just in case day, but the forcast I saw for tomorrow wasn't that bad.
In fact weather was miserable here today, could barely see them as they flew from the Cathedral NE, past our house to Scampton. We saw them through the houses. They had to pospone it +1 hour as it was.

Hope it was a practice :(

Helen they were determined to do it and the weather doesn't look good tomorrow so they did a 'practice' just in case - tomorrows will still go ahead IF the weather is good enough - Helen I need your phone number I would have let you know - I was around town and found out at 2o'clock they were doing a flypast at 3...

I was fortunate that I had my bridge camera in the boot!!!

Apparently, at 15:00, they were over Spalding, Lincolnshire. 2 miles from where I live :((. I wonder whether they will follow the same route tomorrow. If so, I will try and see them :).
