Sywell anyone?

I shall be there - my first air show for 2 years! (not including CWJ last August).

I see on today's VTST email there is a 'private display' for '558 on Sunday, along with some crew currency training on the homeward leg. I have my fingers crossed that Sywell lies between Doncaster and this 'private display'.

We shall see...

No. And I received two texts from separate people saying they'd seen her over Rutland - not a million miles away as the Vulcan flies. So near, yet so far...

Returning to the subject of Sywell, I thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable day once again. All the acts were good in their own ways, but I particularly enjoyed the Meteor T7. I can't remember the last time I saw a Meteor display, probably The Vintage Pair way back when.

My Mum enjoyed her first air show for about 30 years (I thought my Dad was joking when he said she wanted to go!).

But the master stroke to me, was putting the Reds on at 5pm, an hour before the show finished! After they finished, a lot of people left. We watched the rest of the show and most of the departures, wondered over to the car park for about 7pm and drove straight out. Vast improvement on the last show!

Shame they're every other year, but I guess that makes them a little more special.

I note she's listed for the Sunday, so we'll go in to the show on the Saturday and watch from the pub beer garden on the Sunday! Hopefully see you there!

I "think" the victory show aren't going to advertise it, simply because of the backlash they had last year when 558 didn't show. Couple of thousand people asked for a refund, or so I understand
