Cottesmore Photocall - Residents Only

Postby Thumper » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:51 am

How unfair that it's residents of Cottesmore & Greetham only! :(

Rumour says it's a minimum £20 donation as well.

Just gotta hope that someone that lives in Cottesmore or Greetham is handy with a camera and posts some piccies up on FC, PPrune or UKAR!

Invitation from RAF Cottesmore - By kind invitation of the Station Commander of RAF Cottesmore, residents of Cottesmore and Greetham village are invited to view the Harrier for one last time on Tuesday 1st March 2011. The Station will be open to village residents from 2pm until 4pm. Any resident who is interested in this opportunity should email CTS-BSWMCOAsst@mod.uk . An application will then be sent to your home address (opportunity for residents of both villages only so proof of residency essential). Entry to the station will be via car and through the main gate, parking on station. The viewing will involve a short walk so villagers should dress appropriately. Unfortunately there are no disabled facilities on the airfield.

That'll be blatant discrimination then. =)) =)) =)) =))

Seriously though, it's a nice gesture by the OC to say 'thanks' 'cos Harriers are bloody noisy on full chat!! :D :D

I doubt they feel they could deal with the numbers involved if they opened it to all without major cost of staging an open day....

Nice gesture tho' :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

No but seeing as they are wanting a minimum of £20 donation from the locals then they could have had a set number of tickets for people that live outside the village. Or have done another photocall on a different day for non-residents with limited tickets.

It appears there were limited vacancies for a number of enthusiasts that were given on a first come first basis.

Damn! I always get the info too late ~x(

Mind you, as nice as it would be to go and say goodbye to the Harriers, I hear most of them are already broken up, so it would have been a very sad sight.

Yep you and me both T, I would guess it was arranged by Fighter Control it the sort of thing they do and I did read there will only be 4 harriers on show. I agree it would be nice to pay a visit even tho' it would be very sad :(

If you look on UKAR under the same heading "Cottesmore Photocall" someone has posted a pic of a Harrier in the process of being broken up, said that most of them there are in the same state. Only 4 still intact.
