Boulton & Paul rings a bell in my memory ......I feel a story coming on.....

My Dad's first job at about age 14 was as a filing clerk at the B & P factory in Wolverhampton - would have been about 1940ish - they were building Defiants.

Apparently they had a very early form of production line and every part of the aircraft was logged on a stock card and the system revolved around parts being sent to the right place in the line by the clerks ordering them up and sending them via an in house delivery system. My Dad's job was to refile the cards after the delivery requisition had been made. Correct filing was critical so the right parts went to the right planes at the right time.

After a couple of months he got bored with correct and laborious filing so he took to opening the first drawer he came to and putting the next batch of cards all in one place just to get rid of them. After a few days of 2 props going to one Defiant with no engine they sussed him and he got the sack :D :p

He then went on to be a projectionist at the local cinema .... a much better job B-)
