Not the greatest film in the world, but the lengths they went to 'visually' were spot on

Seen that only recently but it was fascinating - I was amazed how quickly the nose wheel came up and how steep the angle of attack was at lift off

Of course - good though it was - this wasn't the first film about the Pearl Harbour raid ......

amazing that they only had a three-hour 'window' to film the takeoff, and that it had to be done in the middle of normal carrier ops

i wonder why the director asked for the carrier to be slowed down though? wouldn't that make the takeoff even harder, with less headwind?

Really don't know, either......

That surprised me, too. I would think the
faster into the wind the better! Maybe it
had something to do with a pitching deck.....


It's funny, though, that we have ANOTHER
picture to thank for there being any Mitchells
left at all! That would be Catch 22 back around
1970 or so.....

Still quite a few flying!
