Who owns this lot then

Postby Spitfire » Mon Oct 04, 2010 11:57 pm

Found these on Google Maps at Long Marston .......

Sad bunch

Who the heck owns that lot .... Looks like a Whirlwind - a Provost - a Vampire - a Canberra - and is that 3 Hunters??
That also looks like a Shackleton shape - but it only has 2 engines??

Aha I can see why now .... its in a bit of a state :(
Well past any form of saving :(( :((

It seems it used to be a museum - but they're all just rotting now .....

How old is that image on Google Maps ... have any been saved to other museums ...

Any one know .... Cluny looks nearest on the forum map :D

I would have thought Sooty was closest!

The urban explorers like to go tere a lot X(
Don't have a problem with them, except when they damage things, if it's just looking and taking pics then I'm actually quite interested in the places they go, but I seem to remember it being reporeted on the Key publishing forum (I think) that they forced open the Shackletons door or something, it was a good few years ago now so could have been someting else.

I think this is the right place, Stratford Aircraft Collection, Long Marston. Found some info and older pictures on the following website:

http://www.midlandsheritage.co.uk/basement-archives/3418-stratford-aircraft-collection-long-marston-warks-1-92-a.html

Poor things, there's a fair few nice aircraft rotting away at Cranfield that I would like to rescue, especially the Lansen.
