It's taken this long (65 years) to get past the nay-sayers in this country, and they are still here and still saying "Nay". It is hardly surprising that there are similar views in Germany - it would be a miracle if there weren't.

Looks to me as if the Daily Heil are just taking a few vaguely connected and unsurprising "facts" and trying to stir up an issue from it. Just like they always do.

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

It isn't aimed at glorification or to rub the noses of those that suffered in it.
It is to commend and applaud the bravery of the people that fought and died for their country (that happened on both sides). People left home and never returned in the thousands. Give them something back.

Bloody glad I don't have to speak German!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

At the time of the bombing it wasn't near the end of the war.
Hitler had not committed suicide. etc.

Dresden was and is an important transport junction.
The bombing was of course nothing to do with helping the Russian advance.

We were subjected to Russian/East German propoganda for 40 years.
A lot of the ruins were deliberately left as a (anti-British/American) reminder of the bombing.

My father was sent to Mittelbau-Dora underground factory to recover parts of V1s & V2s at the end of the war. The "Revenge Weapons" were still being produced.
The East German museum there used to tell of the Americans blowing up the tunnels to prevent them being used by the Russians. The Russians actually continued to use the camp and secret photographs show them blowing up the tunnels in 1948! The only prisoners highlighted were "anti-fascist" communist resistance fighters.

Rant over
I'd rather be skiing
