What is your favorite military aircraft?

[Bluueyee]

Hello everyone
The choice is difficult but I would have to go with the SR-71 Blackbird personally. I have a military aviation based web site and am wondering what aircraft people would like to see pictures and specs on.

[Mayfly]

I love the vulcan for obvious reasons but I not sure I have a favourite.

Its a little like my roast Sunday dinners, my favourite is what I happen to by eating at the time. It's the same with aircraft, whatever I happen to be watching in most cases - but if I was pushed I think I would have to say the Mossie....

[320psi]

I have two if you dont mind, both from different era's

And my first isnt what you think

1. A26 Invader, (if and when I win the lottery Im having one )

2. The obvious one.............. Lightnings, the F3 to be picky, but all of the Mk's do me just fine, mainly due to so many years of standing in amazment watching them carving up the sky and then spending 21 years bleeding over the dam things HA

[Hihonyr8811]

I couldn't possibly pick just one

It's military

Lancaster and Lincoln

Tied for second

I'm liking F-15s at the minute and obviously the EF Typhoon although it took me a long time to like the Typhoon, but now It firmly in my top ten

My top ten shifts but B-25, Vulcan, Gnat, F-15, F-86, Typhoon, Hurricane and thanks to the ones at RIAT new entry this week at number 10 the F-18

I think I've put far to much thought into this

We wait with baited breath.

Or even Bated breath as in "Abated".....

Of course, as a fisherman, your breath might
actually BE "baited" if you were to do some
snacking between fish.....

VC10.........................!!

[Mayfly]

Without a shadow of a doubt this beauty

yup must confess - the display she did at Cottesmore was the best display I have seen this year and it does have a certain something

[IanM]

Can I throw this one in the mix?

Very difficult to pick a favourite but I do feel the poor thing gets forgotten.

[Dan4th]

Yeah, the Sabre really is one of those
"just right" aircraft, isn't she?

No way I could ever choose a favo(u)rite
military aircraft. By era and type and
country I have my heart throbs, but only
ONE?

Nope!

Danf.

Edit for Lateness: Love that C-5, Ian...

[Thumper]

The Sabre just has a certain je ne sais quoi. I like really different looking aircraft. As much as I do love the Typhoon, Strike Eagle and Hornets they errrr all look sorta the same.

If we are allowed a Top Ten then here's mine!

1) F-86A Sabre
2) Harrier GR-7
3) P-51D Mustang
4) F-16 Fighting Falcon
5) C-130 Hercules
6) AH-64 Apache Longbow
7) CH-47 Chinook aka Wokka Wokka
8) Sukhoi SU-27
9) A-10 Thunderbolt II aka Warthog
10) Sea Vixen

[Spitfire]

No contest .... pure and simple .... designed for purpose and beautiful to look at

Spitfire VB ......(Not tropical either )

Just lovin' these larger images - this one is stunning in full screen

As is this one

[Thumper]

Thanks Spitfire that first image is now my new desktop wallpaper

[Mags]

Hmmmm not sure I have a REAL fav.
Huge Vulcan fan obviously, that was a childhood fave along with the Lightning.

The B1 would have to a high ranker......aesthetics (spelling? )

[Bubbles]

My favorite and without any shadow of doubt the greatest aeroplane ever built is The Mighty Blackburn Buccaneer!

[IcH]

I think I may have mentioned my favourite aircraft on here before before

[Xplumberlives]

The BUCCANEER is indeed the BEST AIRCRAFT ever built!

[Saracenman]

[Xplumberlives]

You are SO predictable!
