Eye-Bee::::::::::::

Dow Air Force Base was here in Dear Old Bangor
until the mid to late 1960s, and the B-52G was
their weapon of choice.......

I went to school with the sons and daughters of
the flight and ground crews and felt the ground
shake when they passed overhead........

I will NEVER FORGET those days, and I agree
with you that they are very special aircraft :D

Never heard the nickname "BUFF" until many
years subsequent to my original life with them
in my back yard!

Noisiest Neighbo(u)rs I Ever Had!

Barking Dogs are NOTHING compared to a BUFF :D

Loved 'em anyhow..........

I never really could understand the acronym BUFF - Big Ugly Fat F**kers. It was not all that big - it was never ugly , it was very photogenic and its fuselage was pencil thin.

By the same token I never would have called the A-7s (SLUFs) ugly either.

Its the same in the world of Railways! There's a new type of diesel loco imported to the UK from General Electric that are truly beautiful machines, quite stylish rather than the traditional 'boxes on wheels', and they have also been christened with crude and uncharitable nicknames. I'm completely mystified!
