Always loved the old VC10. Back in the glory days I flew out to Sigapore and back on them several times in 1968-71. They were resplendent in very shiny airline style RAF Air Support Command colours then, none of the drab grey which never suited her femanine curves. I remember they were also fitted with with very tasty, smartly dressed Air Mattresses to look after our every whim. :ymdevil: :ymdevil: Loverly :D . Used to listen to them winding up for take-off every night at about 1900hrs on their way back to U.K carrying another load of hairy kneed lads going home after a tour "in the Far" Happy days. B-) B-)

Hello all...

New to this site and having a good read through the pages found this thread and thought you might like some of my pics and videos:

First off a link to some of my VC10 pics on Flickr

And a couple of videos I have put up on You Tube:

A bit of formation flying - a formation approach

Receiving fuel from another VC10 - Prodding, the Sport of Kings

Hope you like those,

All the best,

Tonks :)

How many are still flying at this point,
and what's the prognosis/timeframe?

Anything going on to extend the life of
those that remain or for preserving at
least one airworthy example?

DAMN these TIMES!

Sadly there is really no chance of keeping one flying... it would cost a fortune and why would anyone pay for that... the Vulcan struggles enough and the 10 is a very complicated ac to maintain. As beautiful as she is the public interest would be nil... its just folks like us who love her!!!

Great photos and videos from everyone!

Just out of interest.....in that second to last pic, the VC name looks like Leonard Cheshire........but according to vc10.net (http://www.vc10.net/History/RAFVC10s.html), Leonard Cheshire isn't on the list of VC's attached to VC10's!? Anyone know the deal behind it?

Fear Not (!) Ajw......

Some forumeer will be able to provide an
authoritative answer, but it's a little difficult
to argue with lettering on the side of an aircraft
vs a website......

Stop by more often!

lol......I wasn't sure if it was maybe one of 101's VC10's (as opposed to the ones which were previously 10's!)

And Tonks.....I forgot how jealous of your job I am having had a butchers through your photos!
