Beat me to it Minty, cheers.
Great news. Should be a lot of Coningsby visitors eh?
They are also flying out of Humberside over a few days (paying passengers), 3 x 30 minute flights a day (morning, noon and afternoon). I am so glad it is only 20 minutes from me :D (photography purposes obviously, I can't afford the £3,500 pax ticket or the £5,000 cockpit flight ticket haha).

Been there done that :D

This has been on the cards for ages. We had the Canadian Lancaster pilot of the time stay with us back in 1999 looking for a way to make it over here but it was finances that were the problem. Pleased to see it has worked out at long last.

I jokingly said on Facebook that I'm off to set up camp at Coningsby this week :)) I think her arrival could easily surpass the amount of people who showed up to see 558 in 2008, especially as it's summer holidays.
I've accepted that I won't get my favourite parking space by the mound :))
Mum's excited that it's going to be at Humberside, she loves watching KLM there, but I doubt very much we'll get parked where we normally do, so I think some exploration next time we're there (normally Friday afternoons) to see where else we can view from as it's not the most spotter friendly airport, even if it is very open, unless you have a massive lens.

I hope the two Lancs also get to fly over Just Jane at some point (I can't see why it wouldn't happen). When I marked out what events I might be able to go to this year on my calendar, this years Props and Pistons event is on the 25th (August), so that would be perfect, although I'd like to say I'm just speculating and hoping :) .

Apparently the T/O has been delayed for a while. They flooded No2 engine so had to wait for an hour before restart. Restart took place but for some reason, which I'm not sure of yet, Vera has returned to the hangar for some repairs.

They've almost fixed her, should be airborne soon :ymapplause: (fingers crossed).

::EDIT:: I spoke too soon :( still having issues with Number two engine, looking like she'll not be leaving today, they had a deadline of 8pm our time 3pm theirs.
On the bright side, I bet they're glad it happened in Hamilton rather than in Iceland or somewhere.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow :)

Looks like it was a magneto problem but hopefully she will get away today. They apparently built in extra time in the schedule for such problems.

I'm in awe of their whole team :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Over 7 hours today, just shows the workmanship that goes into these aircraft, that they can still spend that long in the air :ymapplause:

What happens now? it can't take long to cross from Iceland to the UK, so do they get a day off in Iceland? (they deserve it if they do!) I know they are trying to fly to Reykjavik tomorrow (weather depending).

I still don't know what to do on Friday :)) I never planned to go anywhere near Coningsby, so I may just follow her on FR24 then have a walk down the road to get a good view of the Cathedral when she gets a bit closer to Lincoln \:D/

Straight down the A15 then :)) That works for me \:D/ \:D/ :))
I had thought about going to Scampton, but I'm guessing a lot of others will have thought about that too and I bet there will be cones out.
Then I thought about a visit Lincoln castle in the hopes that when they come over the Cathedral I might get a nice view from Lucy Tower.
Or racing them down the B1398 from Kirton =))
So many options \:D/ :D But I think I'd be better off just staying at home :)) We have a large field next to our house which has a nice view down the hill to Scampton way and also has a view of the cathedral.

I wondered about standing on the pedestrian footbridge over Broadgate to see if I could get a shot over the Cathedral. :))
