I've never been particularly fond of the Jag, but it was still a cracking bit of kit - that video proves it! :ymapplause:

Nice find Phil,

I think the bit of road was a newly completed bit of Autobahn just down the way from Bruggen. You could spot bits of motorway which were earmarked as alternative runways because there was no centre reservation, just easily removable crash barriers.

Bit of a shame the Jag never got a bigger engine cos it was always a bit underpowered.

Sounds like the yank at the end was impressed, I've heard the American military was not too impressed we had a single seat Nuclear bomber as they prefer 2 fingers on that particular button.

I've always thought the Jag was the 'forgotten one' when it comes to our aircraft, great video. Those grass landings & take offs are something else, I never thought that sort of thing would be possible?

I still think the jaguar was created when the plans for a Gnat & a Phantom were mixed up ;)

Funny thing is - that the RAF banged on about FOD at Wittering, Coltishall and Lossiemouth..

Both Jags and Harriers are/were capable of take-offs from FOD infested areas. ;)

I'll wager that clearing FOD and using tarmac increases the life of the u/c and airframe - aka reducing COST! :p
