Handley Page Victor DVD...

Postby Saracenman » Tue May 12, 2009 7:05 pm

i bought this excellent Victor DVD at Cosford the other week, but have only just watched it.

Image

i can THOROUGHLY recommend it to anyone who has even a passing interest in the mighty Victor. It has 80 minutes of SUPERB footage - the vast majority of which I've not seen before :D

i have cheekily uploaded a few clips onto YouTube (and because there's hardly any Victor clips on there!)...

This clip shows two Victors 'deploying' from RAF Marham to airshows at RAF Finningley and RAF Leuchars

This clip shows, in detail, just how vital Victor K2s were during the Falklands War - c/w our very own Barry Masefield

This clip shows a Victor on a typical AAR sortie, refuelling Tornados

This clip gives some general Victor K2 background information, and some beautiful formation flying

like? get the whole DVD here - even at £15.99, it's definitely worth it! :ymapplause:

Well I will be buying it. Thanks for that SM :D I have always loved the Victor. Probably because I was at Marham from a young age to 18ish lol.

Edit: Great to see the Lusty one :D (superb clip)

Anyone notice that the 2 Victors featured in the first clip are still with us?

One at Cosford and the other at Elvington :)

actually, the DVD specifically covers the retirement flights of all three - Brunty, Elvington and Cosford - stating that the latter was the Victor's last ever flight..................erm =))

Am I right in recalling that Cosford's Victor was actually delivered to Shawbury?

absolutely correct - dismantled (and sprayed with preservative) at Shawbury, then transported by road to Cosford

Cheers for the clips SM.

It's an incredibly interesting aircraft to work on. I'll find out on Sunday if we'll still be allowed to play with it
