These were taken in 1999 at the time of the Kosovo Conflict. We waited until evening where several of the BUFF's took off on a live mission. It was odd at the time to think the aircraft and crews were actually off to war. Quite thought provoking.

I remember those days very well too. I used to work in an office on a farm just south of Poulton (the Falcon pub did a good pint of Hook Norton beer) - basically on the Western end of the runway - and they would rattle the office as they flew low (as they always do) after take off. It was even worse when there was cloud cover. As we said though, always a sobering thought when you realise its not an airshow and they are off to do the job they are designed for.
