I shot this at Yeovilton in the late 80s.

Does anyone (XPL) have any more info on this aircraft?

I don't have an answer for you Ian but that is a really good shot. Reminds me of times gone by yet the photo itself doesn't look old. Probably makes no sense (bloody alcohol) :))

I'm at work at the moment so can't see any pictures, I'll have a look in the morning and see what I can tell you about it!

Looks like an 899NAS Harrier GR.3 - probably stated the obvious there though.
Fly fast jets and/or C130s over my house please, I'm bored!

Haven't a clue - but that's what it looks like, or at least a SHAR FRS1 with GR3 nose.

When the R.N. were learning to operate Sea Harriers, the need for some airframes to be handled by the groundcrew arose. There were in sufficient SHARs to facilitate this, so a few out of hours ex RAF Harriers were "donated" to the school of aircarft handling and were painted to represent SHARs!

Hope that helps ;)

Hi Everyone, a newbie here; further to info posted about XZ129, it is currently on static display in that great home of classic jets, Ashburton ("Ashvegas" to the locals) in New Zealand's South Island. A few years ago a syndicate was put together to raise funds to get it to the Ashburton Aviation Museum. It has been rebuilt and is on display in the museum's new hangar, alongside an Australian Meteor F.8 and a former RNZAF A-4K Skyhawk and Vampire and Canberra WH734 nose section.

Cheers

I suspect that's the GR3 we put in an IL76 and sent down there many years ago, early 1990s at a guess! ;)
