Oil Rig in Distress

Postby Mayfly » Sat Feb 05, 2011 9:59 am

There was a floating oil rig in distress yesterday off the coast of Aberdeen it broke 4 of it's 10 safety chains apparently - it appears that an airborne E3D was asked to co-ordinate the rescue and the whole Nimrod debate has been opened up again...

Thread from Fighter Control gives some call sings and indicates what a/c were involved...
FC

and the BBC report..

the rescue was also hampered because it appears tankers couldn't get airborne because of weather.
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

I think the debate will go on for a long time, perhaps the E3 world should start training for this role, then they will be overstretched too! :-o
