Rumours of Grounded Typhoons

Postby Mayfly » Thu Sep 16, 2010 3:36 pm

I have read on a couple of fora that there will be no typhoon flying at Coningsby for a couple of days and haven't been since the 14th, other than for operational missions....I've not seen or heard any around today.

Now there are articles appearing about problems with German & Austrian Typhoon a/c ejection seats in those countries, a possible link to the Spanish crash a couple of weeks ago :(

anyone else picked up on anything?

And funnily enough I didn'y go to Coningsby yesterday for once =)) =))
Although I did stop there briefly on Monday on the way home and it was pretty busy then (4pm-5pm)
The main bit at Coningsby was suspiciously empty though whwn we drove past last night about 6pm, we just assumed it was because of the weather :( .

According to Look North it's a problem with the harness [what harness they didn't say!!] and the Coningsby Typhoons have already been modded :-??

If it was Yorkshire it would have been "Dint"

Yes I did hear something about this!

Ahh found the quote I saw now, it was UKAR:

Thursday 16 September 2010, 13:39
http://www.bild.de
Eurofighter must remain on the ground in Berlin - The Bundeswehr must until
further notice, all 55 Eurofighter hold on the ground, because there could
be problems with the ejection seat. This was announced by the Defence
Ministry in Berlin. The proper functioning of the ejection seats is not
guaranteed in an emergency, said a spokesperson. The problem would now
"analysis, in close cooperation with industry."
