Victor B2 Panel for FS

Postby Viscount Cornbank » Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:18 am

Hello all,

I am on the process of producing a highly detailed panel for the Victor B2 for Flight Simulator, and was wondering if any of you guys working on Lindy can help me regarding the magnetic indicator on the second pilot's coaming panel
placarded AUTOPILOT. The indicator shows white when de-energised and I'd like to know what the two energised captions are, as well as the function of the indicator. Many thanks in advance,

Cheers

Fraser

Welcome to IA VC. You look to be doing a very good job there. I'm sure one of the guys will be along soon to help.

Many thanks,

Most of it is now programmed to work like the real thing; there are limits in both FS9 and FSX, but most can be overcome. The electrical system is working properly, as is the fuel, although the simulator doesn't provide enough tanks to control the individual cells, so they work as the three main groups plus the bomb bay and drop tanks. The Military Flight System and autopilot are also reasonably accurate, but again FS doesn't do TACANs. It is also now possible to do both flight refuelling and fuel jettisoning.

However I won't hijack this thread, and thanks again for the welcome :)

Cheers

Don't worry about that, I'm sure one of our
MODs would be happy to make this its own
topic :D

Welcome from me as well, and go to the
topmost part of the "Forum" and make a
more formal introduction :p

Thanks for doing that, I had the same concern initially, but clearly that sorts it out. :)

:))
It's a little indicator with an inch square window, behind which are suspended four little prisms on geared pinions. A plastic toothed rack is engaged with the gears and is moved left or right when one of two electromagnets are energised. The rack is sprung to the centre position therefore three separate captions can be displayed with a portion of each marked on each prism.

The indicators were developed about the same time as the Victor B2, which makes extensive use of them, largely replacing the previous two position dolls eye magnetic indicator.

Wow, that's impressive. You might want to licence it to IRIS at some point in the future. They do a fab sim of the Vulcan as you are prob aware.
