Anyone any idea where the Reds are off to?

Just gone over here in V formation rather than the normal transit of 4 & 5.

Hmmm I wonder if they did a flyby somewhere else because they were heading south west from me towards Sleaford.

Blades flew past my house a few minutes ago. Didn't know they would be around, so no photos. I only heard them.

Over Lincoln

Postby 10680 » Fri Aug 01, 2014 9:13 am

Spotted over Lincoln last night one (or possibly two) of those hybrid vertical (as in helo) take off then rotate to prop. Can't think what they're called.

Where would it be based?
I'd rather be skiing

There are about a dozen American-operated Ospreys based at RAF Mildenhall, where they started to arrive just over a year ago.

Late report.

You are so lucky Pam. We are still waiting for our fix.

I did spot this last week though, returning from the first ISP on Thursday.

2 Lancasters right across the front of our house \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

edit: it's surprising how much louder 8 Merlins sound than 4.

Haha ^^^^^^^^^

I saw Lancaster cockpit KB976 on the back of a lowloader on the A46 bypass at Lincoln apparently heading for Scampton from Brooklands

Saw the Canadian Lancaster on one of it's pleasure flights today, they were over head Wickenby I was heading to Nettleham from Wragby \:D/ \:D/ :D

And as a reminder as to what the Lancasters stand for, I stumbled across the grave sites of 6 aircrew in the grave yard in Nettleham. Two from WWII and 4 which caught my eye from October 14th 1975. I did a little research, they were killed when their Vulcan crashed in Malta, XM645 :(

Image

The one on the left passed away in 1940 in Hampden Mk.B.1 L4069, OL-O from 83 Squadron Scampton, which crashed near Louth . I haven't researched the one of the right yet although I know he was 49 Squadron.
