This Area: Ideas!

Postby Wedgy » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:23 am

Got my first suggestion for a new name and improvements for this section today \:D/

Want to gather some more ideas/suggestions before putting anything to a vote/making changes.

1) Its been suggested that we divide this area into sub-sections and I quite agree. Otherwise this area is just one mass of random images. Suggestions please. Will add them to the bottom of this post and I will make a decision on a concise list of sub-sections.

2) One suggestion has been submitted for a new name, replacing "The Dark Room". More suggestions welcome. All ideas will be put to a vote against the existing name. Again, will update all suggestions at the bottom of this post.

Possible sub-sections
    Nature
    Automotive
    ....
    Miscellaneous

Possible area names
    The Gallery

I agree with the Boss, Darkroom has to stay.

With regard to subsections have a look at CFF and see if this inspires you............

Is this the vote thread? :))

If anyone does have any ideas for names please don't be afraid to post them. If they are suggested, they will go to a vote where everyone can state their opinion ;)

So are you suggesting the new name should be Legoland? :))
Sooty

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Sometimes I think it might just be best if I turn IA into a dictatorship ... and I'll just decide everything.

Go for it!

OR

Just call it the STRANGE DARK ROOM, at least R.L.N. will be happy!

1. Gallery

subsections
tiltled as planes ,Trains, boats, cars etc .

not to sure on the subsection titles as then there seems as if as far as Photo's are concerned several topics threads and if i missed it on flicking through the forum at least one other dedicated picture area.Would it not be simpler to put all pics in one dedicated place. With appropriate thread title per subject matter,an alternate idea would be say in the anything Vulcan area have dedicated pic thread for all Vulc pics .same as the airshow threads sort of where each airshow adds another topic for everyones pics in the one place.

Ok nutty idea but i am house, dog and baby sitting for a week ,so in my defence i claim (temporary) insanity. =)) =))

I've put up the naming vote and put a few sub-sections in here as a starter.

After some head scratching I've gone for The Gallery as any youngsters on here just might not have heard of a Dark-Room.

Sub sections:

Locomotives: Diesel Steam etc

Automobiles: Vintage and Modern

Hobbies: ie kit modelling etc

Out and About: ie photos of interesting places/things.

Bloopers: ie photos that didn't quite come out as expected

Pets: I didn't want to add this but I know some people love sharing images of their nearest and dearest ;)

Haha I love the bloopers - I could fill that whole section myself!!!

We need to be careful with the over lap of the history forum where steam pics are concerned.

Thanks MOD - agreed, Bloopers is a great idea :ymapplause:
I think in general, will leave the list alone now ... Want to keep the sub-sections down to a minimum - see how they evolve depending on what is posted.

Nearly 2 weeks on, I know its still early days - but do we think this is working well? (forward thinking to doing something similar with Aviation Photography)
