Boeing 747 Window Distribution

Hi,

For a 3D project I am working on I have been looking at the construction of the Boeing 747(200) and specifically the distribution of windows along the fuselage and I am hoping someone here can help with something that is confusing me...

I have downloaded as many schematics, cad drawings and reference images as I can find on Google and it all pointed to the idea that the fuselage was made of a series of rings connected together each having either a window / no window / or forming part of a door section. This would then lead all windows to be uniformly spaced along the side.

However whilst I found this to be true for pretty much all windows there's a section between Door 3 and Door 4 where the window spacing increases by approximately 1/4 of the window width for the end 4 windows and I can't understand why this is?

Illustration:

Can anyone say why the windows aren't spaced evenly in this short section? Are the 'rings' that form the fuselage also unevenly sized in this section?

I hope this makes sense and someone can help!

So, on the lower level?

I'll have a look on the olympic next time I'm at the airfield

Hi,

Yeah, the lower lever (seems to be the same on all variants).

I presume it's something to do with the fuel tanks or wings or something?

Thanks.

From what I can gather, keeping in mind that our jumbo has been completely gutted, there are some pretty beefy structural girders (for want of a better word) between those windows. Much more substantial than anywhere else on the aircraft

Interesting!

I guess it must be wing/fuel tank related given the location.

I'm actually working on an interior walkthrough model of Air Force One (only using publicly available info obviously) and the interior features the standard early 90s panels each covering 2 windows (or the equivalent) but I can't understand how that relates to this section from the reference images available - I presume there must be a series of non-standard width panels in this area...?

I suppose there would be. Ours doesn't have any panels in it though.
