Indeed, we know that some of you have sadly, but understandably, lost confidence in the Trust ever establishing a safe and secure home for our aircraft.

We appreciate that and, going forward, we will be making changes, to ensure that in the future you will be kept involved with and aware of progress and developments at VTST in a timely fashion..

To achieve that, they are reducing the newsletter frequency to once-a-month, so they don't have to dream up platitudes as often as they used to.

They went to Yorkshire to find someone with more money than sense ~ definitely didn't think that through, did they?

Such a shame that this once successful and respected project has rapidly gone right down the tubes due mainly to bad management and poor decision making... not least of which was the choice of Doncaster as a final home

In case you haven't seen it, here is a link to the latest VTTST explanation of why they chose Doncaster.

They explain that Doncaster gives them access to a runway whereas aircraft like XM655 have lost that access. Well, we (655MaPS) might just have a surprise for them very soon, but more to the point they give no explanation as to why they haven't made any use of this important runway access ever since they stopped flying*.

*Except for the one top-secret no-public-allowed taxi run to get them out of a legal bind over their raffle prize screw-up.

Finingley (Always was always will be to me ) is a growing airport.

If they ever do get use of the runway I can see it being very, very limited. We all know commercial flights have time slots times - miss the slot it causes all sorts of knock on problems.

I'm sorry but I can't help thinking back to all those times even when 558 was flying and concerns were voiced by the 'descenters' they were shouted down by what became known as the 'rose tinted spectacle brigade' yet one by one they all flew the coop.

So very, very, very sad as 558 must have had one of if not the most loyal supporters any restoration group has ever managed.

I think at least some of the problem was that the Vulcan attracted a lot of supporters who had no other aviation interest or knowledge, which meant that they couldn't see the realities behind all the VTTST smoke and mirrors. Some of them still can't ~ there are still posters on FaceBook etc who blindly believe what VTTST tell them and try to shout down anyone who dares to suggest it ain't all wonderful, but they are getting noticeably fewer in number as time goes on.

It is interesting that people have now lost interest to such an extent that there are still pro- and anti- VTTST posts on their FB page, but the biggest argument is whether the "new mini" raffle prize is really a mini or not.

I have to say that I turned my back on the VTTST when it became obvious to me, ( it had been obvious very much earlier to a lot more people - many of whom are still on this forum), that Dr Bob and A Edmondson et al couldn't be trusted to tell you the right time of the day. Eric is right, TVOC appealed to a whole new audience of supporters who were not your normal "Aviation Enthusiasts" , who by and large do not have such singular support for just one Iconic Airframe. The spurious promises latterly made by the VTTST must have diverted a huge amount of financial support away from much more "needy" projects. I have renewed my membership to XM655 MaPS (after a few years) and it is now the only historic airframe that I am, once again, financially supporting.
I now have 2 grandsons, one of whom is an avid Vulcan fan, because from a very early age he saw XH558 display and he loved the "Howl". We will be there for the Father's Day runs in June 2020 and I hope to renew my acquaintance with some old friends. I hope to be at Wellesbourne Mountford next Saturday. I hope you all had a great Christmas lunch last Saturday.

It's interesting that since they introduced the "new, improved, monthly" newsletter, supposedly to improve VTTST's communication with their supporters, the hangar hasn't been mentioned once.
VTTST claimed that the limitations at Southend Airport and the restrictions XM655 has been under recently vindicated their choice of Finningley as XH558's final home. Well, XL426 has been taxying recently and we are back next June, so when will we see the Yorkshire Replica stretch her legs?
