OMG! 558 engine runs

Postby Mayfly » Fri Apr 20, 2018 4:52 pm

Have you seen the cost for the 558 engine run in May. =))

£100 a pop! :-o

Compare that to 655 & Southend 426 access.
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Its totally OBSCENE is what it is ... O B S C E N E X( X(

Also compare it to the cost of seeing a group of dedicated volunteers start up 4 contra rotating Griffons on WR963...

Last December's run was £35 including soup and a roll ....and not a single salary in sight :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Well I suppose it's supply and demand, if they can sell the tickets there's obviously a demand but personally I wouldn't pay a £100 to go to an airshow if 558 and a dozen other classic aircraft were displaying.

Well the people who 'demand' it are warped in some way in my humble opinion - there should be NO ONE who would STILL pay that stupid money to what is, basically, a failed gravy train organisation, to see something that is not anywhere near unique in this country .... for as you have indicated it is being performed by volunteer groups at minimal cost elsewhere ~x(

And done on complete and representative Avro Vulcans, not an empty shell.

I note the £100 doesn't include a cockpit visit.
Sooty

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

For £100 I'd want to be driving it.
