So it's almost five months since my scaffold around 603 shots & "By Gum" as we say up north it's been a journey of discovery-frustration-surprise-satisfaction & now achievement. She is within sight of the Finnish line for mid to late October & I have to say today stood on the top scaffold looking across her port wing I needed sunglasses...What a sight of pure white beauty...
We are curently underside with all the top side finished & very little left to do underside. One of our volunteers adopted the undercarriage & they are looking superb gleaming black again. Our Roundle/stencil man has done her proud with all the correct colour scheme/lettering painstakingly applied as she was on her delivery to the RAF back in 63.
But a "Huge" thanks to our scaffold benefactor (Once an apprentice @ Woodford) for paying the scaffold & tent fees...40 grand + & our paint supplier did us proud with mountains of white paint FOC.
Finally the Volenteers made it all possible to bring "The White Lady" back to her splendour. Our thanks.
We have been asked to post no recent restoration shots keeping the expectation for the "BIG" day. But wait until October when I expect she will be posted extensively. For me it has been a tremendous experience working on a Vulcan & in some cases with former Vulcan builders..I think my RAF dad would be pleased with me.
Be yourself...everyone else is taken...!
