Postby Jigsaw » Fri Apr 05, 2013 7:37 pm

A thoroughly enjoyable day throwing a little polish at an old but extremely healthy looking Icon.
Met some great people that I have to applaud and thank you very much Sam for your time.
I take my hat off to all involved in this ongoing project and I mean EVERYONE :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

So then were you polishing with your left hand and taking photo's with the right? :-o

Thank you for the photographs. Nice to see things that aren't normally seen by the public.
I especially like the last 2 photographs :ymapplause: :ymapplause:.

What is the metal plate covering, and why isn't it painted?

It's not metal, it's a dialectric covering over an antenna - in this case part of the (disused) ILS. Essentially it's the same as the larger dialectric cover at the base of the fin (over the HF antenna).
