£220,055 - 88% of Phase 2 target.
£68,945 left to get by 31st March.

£581,055 - 72.6% of overall target.
£218,945 left to get by 30th June.

Total as of Friday 22nd March at 5pm.

Funding update as 31st March deadline looms close.
We now have just over £70,000 to raise in just under 9 days. That's nearly £8,000 each and every day! People have asked us, just how critical is it to reach the target, knowing we were short on the last deadline by £39,000?
When asked this morning, the Trust's Commercial Director, Michael Trotter, requested we publish his 'off the cuff' comments;
"Well, this time, it is very serious. We have said before that the VTST has no cash reserves and no access to a bank facility (overdraft). I personally check our cash position every day and if the current published targets in the appeal are missed we will be faced with insufficient funds to prepare XH558 for the 2013 season and the increased cash-flow the displays bring."
"As it is at the moment, this shortfall will roll on and will put us in a negative cash position within only a few weeks. I continually advise our Board of Trustees on the cash position; they have a legal responsibility to ensure the Trust remains financially viable. We have not been in this position for some time, but fear the growing financial uncertainty in the economy is having a serious effect on peoples ability to find cash they are willing to part with in order to support XH558."
"I believe is some ways, we are a victim of our own success. We have track record of launching and delivering appeals and I am sure our supporters must think they've done it before - so they will be fine. In this difficult climate, to have raised nearly £600k so far is remarkable indeed - we are blessed with our core supporters. The fact remains though, we are still not safe and I would urge everyone to spread the word and be our ambassadors. It would be a tragedy if the end of XH558s flying life was actually last September."

I hope they do it, truly, I do and I hope the amazing crew members all keep their jobs...

BUT....

It's so repetitive and so relentless they have beaten any enthusiasm I had, for the old girl, completely to a pulp.

Which is actually rather sad :(

I think Gaz you have hit the nail, for many, right on the head. Reading other fora it seems to be the way many who have supported in the past now feel. :(

They just express it more aggressively.

Can you imagine what a potential RIDE in 558 might attract in the way of funds....?
I suppose H&S or insurance would rule it out...or maybe not.... :-o

They only do what other charities do. I'd love to know how a charity is meant to raise funding without asking for cash and it would make a nice change if people stopped and realised how much of an achievement it is to have survived this long given the current economic climate.

I don't think many people have denigrated the achievement's to date, certainly I have not seen Gaz's post or mine as not getting it, we, as most people, are fully aware and appreciative of the extremely superb work, effort and dedication of the engineers, support staff and management. I also don't believe there are many people out there who do not understand how a charity works.

I am fully aware of what has been achieved, the endless hours of plugging away and the time and effort that went into 558, reading rules and regs and pointing out that actually there wasn't anything specifically excluding 558 from returning to flight and I have stated many, many times out of the people in aviation I know who could have had a crack at returning 558 to flight I don't believe one of them could have achieved what Dr Bob did.

I have also on here many, many times said they are a charity, how else do they get funding and to raise the money they have is astounding BUT that doesn't mean I don't understand how worn down Gaz or many others feel.

:)) Good 'ole 558 emotive as ever!

I agree Bubbles it is obvious from some posts on some fora there are many who have no idea what has gone into 558 or what restrictions the VTST have to work under but I can see how worn down many feel.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound aggressive.

Probably not the right thread, but as a result of ongoing fundraising ....

Seen but mostly HEARD today at Finningley, one Vulcan trying out its engines and entertaining all in the process....

Should be some pics on the Finningley Gallery website later on, as they were there and commented on it on the DSA forum.

looks like the winter service is going according to plan ! :D

£11,000 a day then - it's gone up a little but as they are carrying £29-39k? from the end of last year not too bad I wouldn't thought.
