Currently standing at £910k :D

I just hope things are Learned from this. VTTS need to be more open and news savvy from now on. The forumites have done absolute wonders to promote awareness since this crisis raised it's ugly head.

558 needs promotion BIG TIME... not just in a time of funding crisis. A proper PR team should be installed to sell her and advertise the Educational aspect of her.

I doff my hat to all those who have partaken (in various ways) to achieve what we now have. I DO NOT want to go through another 5 weeks like this.. ever again !!! ;) Lessons learn't all round, time to act upon them and make sure we never get to this stuation again.

This should be a stepping stone to the future 558.. a foundation on which to build on.

I totally agree pudgyknees - I never understood why when they got funding they sat back until they ran out again - I know they were chasing business sponsership but the public were left to think that all was hunky dorey. They HAVE to keep the profile up & the pressure on by regualr up dates of what is happening & if it's not why not......

VTTS or whatever seem to have emerged into the 21st Century at last. The way they have performed over the last couple of months stand them in good stead for the future :ymapplause:

Someone over there is feeling very smug - messing about with the countdown clock now - and the money is ticking up so fast they are bound to do it I would think. \:D/

Well I don't go on there that often but my dad keeps me informed. I only heard about the £1,000,000 the other week. I put a tenner in but they need to start earlier, have more collections, have more publicity and to sort out that website!

Uncle Bob said on Camera that it was a strategy that worked in 2006...................

OK it looks like the same strategy is going to work in early 2009 BUT this is not the way forward until a life/time expired component forces the grounding for good.

When we get confirmation that we have succeeded in raising the funding, ALL the donors should be contacted and thanked for their support, then asked if they would be interested in the standing order scheme.

New standing orders need to be raised as soon as possible so that there is 'money in the bank' while further fund raising is ongoing.

Waiting for the 'Utopian Corporate Sponsor' to pick up the tab is just that............a utopian idea of the wildest order in this climate. Lots of corporates all providing a bit is great (eggs and baskets spring to mind).

gift aid as I understand it:

you have to be a british tax payer - therefore any pledges I make wouldn't count - but if they were from DT they would

not only do you have to be a tax payer but there is a minimum amount you have to have paid.

whilst tvoc can only claim 28% tax back, if the pledger is a 40% tax payer they can claim the remaining 12% back, so thus could donate that as well.

the gift aid has already been added to the plegde donation total but will in effect only be collected once those elligable have signed to say they are.

the total of £1M I would think take into account the giftaid & will have allowed for it, I assume at an average rate [what ever that is]

Nicklos I agree they should have something in place thats says 15,000 supporters at £4 pw per year sorts the problem please conside this option & that message needs to go out now when asking for the pledges not in 6 mths time
