Indeed well said SM :)

The club has shown itself to be mighty ("Team Vulcan" indeed!). It is the person on the street with their £20, SM, CG and CF from here with their telethon work and all the other club volunteers who have been on the phones for the past week, the Volunteers who have manned the brunty phones, the volunteers in London yesterday, the volunteers who worked tirelessly for the scramble, the volunteers who went to the streets on the Pledgathon weekend. etc etc.
Anyone get the impression I am repeating a word for a reason? ;)

Then there is PA28, who should rename himself "evo-stick" as he seems to have been the glue that held this all together! :D

This is all despite of some individuals on the VTTS forums who insist on being a tit and sticking their oar in just as we draw to a tremendous conclusion. (they are a member of IA here too, so they can PM me if they think I am talking about them - quite happy to discuss my views one on one)

Well said, I think we have a nominee for CHAIRMAN, he compliments Michael Trotter so well!

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to recall somewhere that the totals posted for pledges include the gift aid.
If I'm wrong and gift aid has to be added, at the current rate of 28% then with the total pledged at 09:06 of £831,652 PLUS 28% the total is............£1,064,514.60.

I AM SURE THE TOTALS INCLUDE GIFT AID SO DON'T BREAK OUT THE CHAMPERS YET.

You're sort of right Nickolas, but I think that was when the totals were calculated manually. Now with this new totaliser and countdown, I'm not sure if its automatically factoring in gift aid or not. Surely it would be wrong to assume that every pledge was eligible? (there isnt a tick box to identify gift aid). For example, I know as it stands currently, my Pledges are NOT eligible for gift aid.

The figures for 'Personal' pledges have been adjusted to include 28% Gift Aid (which TVST recovers from the Government)

reading the posts here regarding gift aid on the totals of pledges raised I had a look on TVOC site in the pledge data page between the 2 boxes it stated the above .So looks like Gift aid is applied to personal pledges but not ones from business .Hope this helps

Edit I did wonder about this before For those of us who get a pension or similar ( I don't pay tax either so where does that leave any pledge I have made )Questions Questions , I would imagine that they would have to maybe submit the list of donates to the tax man who would than sort out who was eligible .As long as the target is passed and 558 gets to strut her stuff again .
Just noticed I've finaly admitited am over the hill and offically an old Git =)) =))

If it comes back from Medic One that you are right HH, then I'm afraid that may open up all sorts of problems for the figures.

I don't know much about Gift aid, but I do know you have to be a UK Tax Payer .....
I have made 3 personal pledges (one from Iconic) and for various reasons I am currently NOT classed as a UK tax payer for the current financial period, therefore the money I have pledged is wrongly inflated by some 28%!!! I'm sure I am not alone and many of the 1000s that have pledged would be in various different circumstances which affect gift aid.

I do hope my concerns are unfounded :ympray:

edit: Confirmed what I thought. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/gift-aid.htm

Just called Dickon who is a Brunty the info he gave me (after consultation with someone in the background) is that all pledges include gift aid 'where applicable'.................

So the figure shown should be a true figure of what's potentially in the pot.

Oh, 558 is out just about to be fired up for the engine anti dets......

=)) Okay, for Business or Personal pledges maybe, but for the personal pledges .... how do they know if its applicable or not? Im just another name and address ;)

Also asked PA28 on VTTS forum - to quote ...
The Gift aid question was always going to be a thorny issue, and could well result in the loss of money to that expected. Indeed, I dare say this is one factor why the Trust are pushing for the 1 million over and above the very early posts from Dr. P saying £850k would do the job.

Fair enough ;)
