*** URGENT HELP WANTED ***

Postby Saracenman » Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:27 pm

PLEASE HELP!!!

Volunteers for York Railway Station - tomorrow Thursday 19th February, between 9am and 11am

after speaking with "XH558 Press Office" a short while ago, he told me that his generous volunteers that he'd lined up are all now sadly unavailable.

this is for A1 Steam's Tornado naming ceremony, being performed by HRH Prince Charles

with an expected massive crowd at York Station, our plan was to mingle in a low-key fashion (so as not to overshadow Tornado) and be visible in 558 caps/tops/etc and hand out leaflets about our pledge scheme. a large percentage of the public at York tomorrow will obviously be a good 'target' for our pledge campaign, and Club membership too.

believe it or not, there are still countless people who know nothing about 558 and would certainly help if only they knew!

so, this is a desperate plea to anyone who feels that they are available to help us with this opportunity. we only need a handful of willing helpers - it might make all the difference to 558!

if you feel that you can help, please send "XH558 Press Office" a private message ASAP.

click here for XH558 Press Office's profile, then click on "PM: Send private message" beneath his flashing "Love the Vulcan" image

thank you

:)

Seconded. The hard work you put in silently behind the scenes is appreciated by those that know ;)

I think its more frustrating now than in the past ... TVOC are much more aware, willing and able these days.... but is it all too much too late? Lets hope for a miracle over the next 2 and a bit weeks, if 558 can survive, her future will outshine 2008 :D

Bit harsh isn't it? From recollection there was only one volunteer to get to York for 9.00am on a Wednesday and they had to withdraw on Monday for personal reasons. Given the amount of time many of those said forum volunteers are putting into the Scramble at the moment, IMHO it's a bit rich to lash out at them for not dropping everything at short notice to go to York. However, if the point you are making is that forum volunteers were the only way to get a presence there, then that's a different argument...

well i was EXTREMELY grateful for the volunteers offering their services - the fact that it didn't work out isn't anyone's fault

just one of those things!

Brilliant result, pity it couldn't be repeated at all stations, that would reach a lot of people directly. Well done to SM and Wedgy :ymapplause:

I was dissapointed that only one person volunteered and then had to pull out, he can't have been the only one within a reasonable distance of the Tornado event at York. It was a shame that nobody else from the VOLUNTEERS was able to assist. Thankfully with Wedgy's quick thinking and application of some truly wonderful calling in of a favour, an awful lot of good has been achieved.
