Theres only really Kemble Goodwood and Duxford left really... of the larger shows.

I have heard Goodwood doesn't want her for that particular event as it caused problems the first time she did it. Kemble didn't book her for next w/e so will there be any money in the pot at this late stage? and I don't rate the chances with Duxford. :p

I would however love to be wrong and see her at all remaining events!!

Duxford has always viewed 558 as an expensive extravegance, they realise they can get at least 5 or 6 other "acts" for the same money!

Would they get more on the gate with 558 taking part?

Jim, I'm sure they would reap the benefits of the Vulcan effect that other airshows have enjoyed, but just how would they deal with a no show if a vast majority of people have gone along mainly to see 558.

It's all very well quoting the "SUBJECT TO SERVICEABILITY AND WEATHER" line but that can't wash forever!

That my friend is the only problem, she does pull in the crowd, a very big disappointment when there is a no show. I went to Sanicole a couple of years ago whilst in Belgium, 558 turned up there, the crowds were fantastic, there was still a couple of hours of the show to go, when she had done the place emptied.

You were at that show?????

I remember the vids were fantastic!

I also got in some digs with people who
maintained that 558 would NEVER, EVER
leave the UK! :)) :)) :))

I remember the crowd went NUTS when
she flew!

You would think just the possibility of
558 being there would be enough.

I went over for the tiger meet, it included the Sanicole airshow, 2 years ago I paid £29 for the Tigermeet, a full day event, the practise show for Sanicole and fly in and then the show itself, that was great value. Got a good video compilation from the Tigermeet.

It's all very well quoting the "SUBJECT TO SERVICEABILITY AND WEATHER" line but that can't wash forever!

The same as any other show would deal with it if it happened to them, I would have thought.

The serviceability statement is a standard line quoted by all shows and organisers.

To me it's simple Duxford choose who they wish to display and pay, if they don't want her that is their choice, No excuses needed.

This still on the Duxford website for Autumn show.

"Please note that, in order to balance flying budgets whilst preserving the breadth and variety of displaying aircraft, Vulcan XH558 is not booked to appear at any of the Duxford air shows or events in 2011."

Presumably people are still asking though for them to put that up.

This is the bit I liked

We wish to confirm recent press reports of a display this Thursday at Doncaster are incorrect. We have never committed XH558 to display and apologise in advance for any upset these reports will cause. Please await notification only by our official channels when any such flight is planned.

There was a post on FC yesterday giving details of tickets from the local Doncaster RAFA President Makes you wonder how this type of misinformation starts.
