The AEO at least has the advantage that he can see all put about three of the buttons/switches for which he is responsible - although there is also one which he has to get out of his seat and move to the other side of the cockpit to operate (the engine fire test switch). The pilots on the other hand have several switches (in the case of thre P1 including engine starting switches) which are out of sight and operated by feel alone! No wonder that from time to time an apparently technical problem which comes to light is fairly quickly resolved a minute or two later with the accompanying excuse of 'finger trouble' slipping out of one of the drivers mouths

AEOs don't do that
