Xh558 plans for future

Going to see XH558 on Wednesday afternoon for a hangar tour. Hope to take some photos.

think I might have to go tour too, before she goes to where ever it is that will no doubt, be far away from me.

Had a very good day with XH558 in the hangar . She looked beautiful. Did not see the CLR plaque on the bomb doors as it has been removed to redo the spacing . Will have to wait until next year if I see her at RAF Waddington before I can take the photos with the names on them.

Unfortunately, when I got back to Doncaster station on the bus, crossing the road via the zebra crossing in the bus station, my foot slipped on the white paint and went down like a ton of bricks. Bag took brunt of fall. The problem was that the camera was in the bag, and when I checked it, the zoom lever was very sticky, and seemed to grind when going to the telephoto end of the lens . When going to the telephoto end of the lens, it goes from wide to telephoto on its own. Looks like I will have to start to save up to get another camera . Not what I wanted .

Thank you Pam & Dan4th. Will check when I am next in town at the bank.
I spoke to the gentleman in the camera shop and he said that it was not worth repairing and pointed me to another camera which is better than the one I have. It has multiple frames per second, better video quality etc.

I was looking at getting that for Jan, but decided on getting a Sony A350 DSLR so she could use my lens`, but I did see that the Fuji HS30 has a great spec and is very reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, the economic climate hasn't improved so, this news isn't surprising.

They have pulled through in the past, lets hope they can one final time.

I think part of the problem is that they have made it clear it is (almost certainly) one final time. That may encourage some to contribute, but it will also put a lot of people off.

Can you imagin the reaction in the states if their last airworthy B52 was in this
situation.....? Simple it woulden't happen....! I feel particularly sorry for all the
558 staff involved.

I totally agree. Kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't. I actually think the VTTS are right to be upfront with supporters/donators (first time for everything) whether it be the right strategy, time will tell.

I've bought stuff from webshop recently - and contributed to the 2013 Winter Components scheme (yet again)... I am rapidly running out wall space to show all the certificates I have purchased.

The show is NOT over yet... just on PAUSE. (JMO)

Why wouldn't it happen? Airframe Fatigue and limited ECU's would still apply, not forgetting the World economic crash started here and they are currently too busy voting at the minute.
