From a topic on the UKAR forum by Matt Hampton , Chief Pilot of the Vampire Preservation Group:

WZ507 is currently grounded, pending a major maintenance inspection which we hope to complete in time for the summer. Every 8 years a major inspection is required and 2013 is the year this is scheduled... An average year sees expenditure of over £20000 to keep WZ507 flying; this year the figure will be even higher due to the cost of this inspection.

If you would like to help keep WZ507 flying, any support would be hugely appreciated. There are two easy ways to help -

1) Membership of the supporters club - this starts from just £1 per month and is the ideal way to keep up to date with all our news and maybe visit the aircraft for a guided tour! Details here:

2) Alternatively, maybe you could be interested in buying the new Airfix model of WZ507 from our online shop? This is a great little model of our Vampire and every kit we sell hhelps fund WZ507's future. Details here:

Thank you in advance - hopefully you'll see WZ507 flying again soon!
