I keep hearing rumours about an engine for the widowmaker. Nothing's materialised yet.
Justin is doing a tremendous job on tarting her up, though!

Be sure to tell Justin some crazy Murkin
thinks he's doing a fine job :D

Plus/minus 1,000 is GREAT, Gaz :ymapplause:

Maybe it's time to start thinking about
a Guppy Theme Park :)) !

You seem to be speaking in tongues, old chap. Have a good trip and see if there are any bits lying around that they won't miss.

July report, for your perusal :)

17th July

Got a lot done today without doing a lot.

Our lift, which the owner has hired for us, needed fuel, so, I organised that and collected and deposited 15L of petrol. I replenished our dwindling stockpile of roller sleeves and masking tape and I changed a main wheel on XX900, almost, on my own thanks to Gregg being injured, I hear, in a hilarious sexual accident! :D

Since I've left the airfield, I've heard that Neil is up in the lift painting the "S" in Skylink. We're really gathering speed now!

EDIT: He's actually just finished the "S"

24th July

Bit frustrating day today. We've got this bit of blue:

Image

It's been driving me mad for ages! No lift in the world seems to be able to reach it, so, I spent a while today trying to get our new lift up to it. No dice! SO, I positioned it in such a way that, instead of using it as a lift, I climbed out on the wing and used the lift as a safety barrier. Anyway...

Image

Got it done! :D

I also spoke to our resident metal bloke about a new tube for our towing arm and I started to remove the eyes from either end of the corroded pipe.

Emma's been a busy bee:

Soon be able to hand our, very expensive, lift back to the hire company. Another company on site has said we can use their behemoth of a scissor lift, so, we only need "our" lift for the over the wing bits.

All good!

Where the hell is Oliver?!?!?!?

31st July

Rain (and work commitments) stopped play, today. I'm starting to formulate a plan for the rest of the year though. We've got our two biggest money spinners coming up, within a couple of weeks of each other, so we can start to plan where that money will be used. We still owe, about, half of what I would hope we will take, for the tyres, but, that should leave us with a nice amount that, even after restocking on disposable items, should be enough to take on a fairly major job. I need to discuss it with the rest of the team at our AGM, in a few weeks time.

This past week has seen the majority (Even Oliver!!) of the team getting on with the painting. Here's a few progress pics:

I apologise if I've repeated some of these photos. The crew (ESPECIALLY Emma) are working so fast, I can't keep up with the inflow of photos :D

July has been a VERY good month!

Seeing as the Guppy is, in effect, a GIANT
Billboard on their behalf, one would think
that Aeroboose would be willing, nay, EAGER
to finance her exterior renovations :D

Has the aeronautical world power chipped-in
at all for the Guppy Beautification Program(me)??????

If not, they ought :))

Emailed the PR lady and a few departmental heads, both here and in France. Not even had a single acknowledgement, let alone an actual reply.

Boeing, on the other hand, answered me within an hour!

I've always said American customer service is the best in the world!

The 'Super' Guppy is beginning to dominate the Brunty skyline - and not just because of its size.. :ymapplause:
