Come on don't be shy , you must all have some photos of your local area - should be a bumper entry this month. Just to start the ball rolling here's my entry, 3 from my home village of Rayne, 2 of them taken within 200 yards of my house!

firstly at the far end of the village, the former railway that runs from Braintree to Bishops Stortford is now a 16 mile long country park known as the Flitch way (after the dunmow flitch trials) and is popular with walkers and cyclists. The former Rayne station is now an information centre and cafe and gets packed out on summer weekends, this was taken on my old Olympus compact digital just to show that I dont always use the Canon:

Image

there's nothing more English than village Cricket in summer!, the large oak tree which I was standing underneath can make the cricket interesting at times - just a short walk from my home -

Image

and this was even closer taken at the end of my road , the village green and an adjacent cottage on a snowy night in December 2010, I tried this in both colour and black and white and preferred the latter:

that's mine for starters, now does that give you some ideas for your own entries?

Considering I only got 2 entries, is it really worth voting on this one? I thought it would be a topic that everyone could join in with. If participation is this low then I might as well just stop running the competitions all together.

it is a pity as there was such a lot of enthusiasm when the idea was suggested. maybe people would like to suggest why they DON'T enter.

give the voting a go Oli, I can only vote for Jim but I'll still do so, his are much better than mine anyway even if I could vote for myself, I'm honest enough to recognse when someone posts better pics than me - pm on it's way

I personally would have posted if I could think of anything locally that was interesting enough to post, that hadn't been previously posted somewhere else on the forum !
I still think the idea is a good one but definitely needs more support from some of our members,so come on people get your fingers clicking !

i dont think it matters if it has been posted before, otherwise it could discount some very good photos and that would be a shame
