13 Sqn are to be disbanded from Marham - I wonder if there is any chance of a visit like Cottesmore held?

With the impending 2012 Airshow season starting to firm up on the calendar and the posibility of I.A. Forum members visiting airfields and museums, would it be a good time to start a list of possible visits and hope that our own Mr Fixit can apply some influence and get us in somewhere! ;)

Re: Suggestions?

That was a nice subtle hint there. ;) ;) ;)

We, as Iconic Aircraft , are welcome to have a group visit to Airbase Coventry and the Meteorflight and Shack people would provide us with a guide who could take us 'airside' as well as touring the maintenance hangars.

Also we are on for a possible 'behind the scenes' tour of IWM RAF Cosford with access to all the Jaguars etc.

The problem however, which is not insuperable, is could we raise enough members from here willing to make a donation, (of around a tenner?) and the next big question is when? Midweek is preferable as both locations could concentrate purely on us but on weekends they obviously have other commitments/visiting parties etc.

When I tried to arrange the first visit to the AAC at Middle Wallop with the VTTS Club, that visit had to be scrubbed as, during midweek, even that site couldn't come up with enough people who were interested . The problem is greater with IA as we obviously have far fewer members, not all of whom seem to be terribly interested in aircraft, but they still seem to be just as widely dispersed geographically as the VTTSC members are.

I can feel a poll coming on - just how many members are or would be interested in an organised visit/tour in 2012?

All feedback is welcome. ;) and I think this thread says it all. SUGGESTIONS ?? ;)

Well I think mid week is the way to go and possibly in half term to allow some of our younger members to attend!

Surely with enough notice, most people who wish to come along should be able to book time off where necessary and personally I would be happy to stump up a tenner! ;)

Yes I agree Dave. Midweek during half-term would seem to be worth pursuing. Perhaps we should try for Feb half-term (11th - 19th) or Easter (31st March - 15th April) 2012?

I think it would be helpful if people
knew what kinds of minimums you
might be looking for, Eye-Bee.......

Then there would be a GOAL to shoot
for and Exceed just in case of illnesses,
deaths, prangs or cupcake malfunctions....

Forewarned is Forearmed, but you have
one H**L of a time buying shirts! :p

OK then I want names!! This won't commit you but it will give me an idea of potential numbers.

Edit: Usually 15-30 people are recognised as a viable number with 15 being the minimum for most visits.

I'd definitely be up for a visit to Coventry :D, be more than happy to pay what ever.
And it's relatively simple to get to for us, which makes a nice change :))
