Whats the point of Keirin in cycling?

They do about 8 laps 6 of which is behind a motor bike then sprint like mad for the other 2 - I don't understand what it's all about...

... a bit like dressage I like to watch but don't see the point of it. :p

As of a few minutes ago, "GB" was
listed as being #3 behind the USA
and the dreaded Chinese in the #
of medals awarded.......

Not in the remotest way SHABBY!!!!!

But do not get me started on how the
Chinese are approaching these games
and how completely OBSESSED they
seem to be with GOLD......

I saw a vid yesterday, since removed,
in which a Chinese athlete got all crazy
and emotional during an interview and
offered a tearful apology to his fellow
countrymen for FAILING at the Olympics......

He had "ONLY" won a Silver Medal :p

What's WITH these people???????????

And some of your strongest events are still to come :D

I don't think the UK will overtake China or the USA,
BUT you must admit a strong #3 sounds pretty good :D

That is what I am hoping for.......

We have as many golds now as we got in Beijing without the field and track events tho' if my memory serves me well we didn't get that many after the water sports and cycling finished last time.
