Yep - a shame but thats the way it goes and more energy for her other 2 events, ;)

Edit - well it's all excitement in the velodrome - China have just lost gold in the same event for the same breaking of the rules.

I expect there might be some appeals there,
and I just saw a very candid clip of the judge
who had to administer the DQs......

You could obviously see he didn't want to do
either one of them.....

Had to be done, I suppose.....

Is there much live coast to coast network coverage over there Danforth?

Athletics events start tomorrow so the USA should be top of the medals list shortly. ;)

We just want to beat the Germans and the French .... :)

The coverage here on our NBC network
is never-ending, and they really do a
superb job of it -- they have done it for
decades and seem to have it down to a
science....Summer AND Winter Games.....

I ALSO think they barely break even on
their efforts and do it out of a sense of
tradition more than for profit......

VERY RARE in the US Broadcast Industry!

And every Olympiad they cover they get
better at it.....

I'm certainly not glued to the screen, but
I do watch when I can.....

BEAT THE FROGS!!!!!!!

BEAT THE KRAUTS!!!!!!!!

GO ENGLAND!

You see, I DO pay attention :D

Danforth you must say 'GO TEAM GB' or there will be (understandable) complaints mate. ;)

I have French friends who think that it was a disappointment for France to lose the 2012 games but as they would have been held (mainly) in Paris they weren't that bothered in the end. It is a strange phenomenon but the whole of France seems to hate Paris and in particular Parisians. Kermit could confirm this?

As NBC are covering the Games, what did they think to the 'Opening Ceremony'? Did they 'Get it' ?

Apparently the French loved it because Msr Bean is an Iconic figure in France.. :-o

Apparently some of our more 'Right Wing' politicians weren't so happy. I am apolitical and I just enjoyed the spectacle. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Yeah, I know, but "Go England"
SOUNDS better, 'ya know?

NBC pays through the nose to the
IOC for the "privilege" of doing the
broadcast, and I'm sure the BEEB
had many NBC feeds to choose from
along with their own to do their
version of the opening.....

I didn't watch the opening ceremony,
but NBC has always done that sort of
thing well...

I haven't heard any complaints, so I
guess they did a good job of it....

If they hadn't, it would have been "News" :D

I'm in love with Ian Thorpe 'Thorpedo' ;) - what a lovely bloke he comes across as. Super sense of humour, and appears to make a very good show of wanting to be British!!! \:D/
