The Hamilton Mercedes move is being talked up as him choosing the team as potential (likely) winners under the new regs in 2014. Ross Brawn certainly made hay with the last regs change in 2009, but it is asking a lot for him to generate such an advantage again.

And if Brawn/Mercedes are so good, how come Hamilton tried Red Bull and Ferrari first (and was turned down by both)?

I can't help wondering if the personal sponsors he wants freedom to attract will actually be there when he is an also-ran in an off-the-pace Mercedes.

And it sounds like Maldonado may not be back at Williams (although it's just speculation from journalists). There is a slight possibility his funding might be affected (due to an election) .

I said this silly season was going to be a good one :ymapplause:

And I keep reading Vettel to Ferrari in 2013. Now that I don't understand, from Vettel or Ferrari. Maybe in 8 years when Fernando has retired, so I'm clearly missing something :D

The Hamilton/Mercedes deal is a bit of a gamble on paper, but could pay off if Ross Brawn has another ace up his sleeve. It would after all be the fourth time that he has developed a car into a winning package seemingly from nowhere! Does anyone know who is likely to take Hamilton's place at McLaren?

Sergio Perez, moving from Sauber.

I heard that Ferrari will probably resign Massa for one year until they can sign Vettel for 2014 (His contract runs out next year). I can see why Ferrari want Vettel but there is no way that team combination will work.

To be honest though, I'm more annoyed that Grosjean will probably retain his seat at Lotus. As far as I can see, he really hasn't proved his worth there this season and with another first lap crash to his name today I'm failing to see this so called 'potential'. I saw the on-board from today and I'm sorry but if you can't drive round a corner with a car next to you while not driving into the car in front of you then you shouldn't be racing. The rest of them can manage it.

I did actually mean 2014 :ymblushing:
Accoding to Will Buxton, the deals done. Ferrari like to do it t last 18 months in advance.

http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/20 ... ly-season/

What, then, of Ferrari? Fernando Alonso will see out his career driving a red car, of this we are certain. But what of the future? Ferrari lost its intended perfect partner for Alonso with the Rallying accident that befell Robert Kubica. The Pole would have been driving for Ferrari this year, but with Robert out, Felipe Massa got a reprieve. And it is not working out. Massa has now entered the record books as the Ferrari driver to have gone the longest without scoring a podium in the team’s F1 history: 35 races and counting. His drive in Singapore was outstanding, but one wonders if it is too little too late.

Ferrari, however, has no real need to replace him because it has only one season to wait before a new driver arrives. That driver will be Sebastian Vettel, and he will race for Scuderia Ferrari come 2014. It’s one of those widely known secrets in the paddock, just as Robert Kubica’s move was known about. Ferrari doesn’t do spur of the moment. It does pre-contracts at least 18 months in advance. And Vettel is understood to have signed one such agreement.

Grosjean lacks spacial awearness in 1st corners.
I felt a bit bad for him when they showed the post race interviews and it looked like he'd been crying

I can really see Ferrari wanting Vettel, but can you imagine hearing "Sebastian is faster than you" or "Fernando is faster than you" coming out on the radio. After that, all hell will break loose. Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso will never be able to be in the same team. Well they will, but there won't be smiles come the end of the season.

What's more, that article was clearly wrong about Perez.

It's about 3 weeks old, was written before, other than Eddie Jordan, I don't think anyone saw that coming :)) :))
Will is a reputable source, he does all the Speed comentary.

Exactly!! you'd end up with another ALO/HAM situation with VET. Ferrari have always been a number one driver team, I can't imagine either of them setteling fo #2 status.
That's why I don't understand, unless Ferrari just want to tie up two of the best drivers in F1 to stopother teams having them,if you know what I mean.

Looks like they're more interested in the constructors if you ask me! Assuming that this is all true!

Poor Lewis Hamilton is having some sort of break down =)) =))

‏@LewisHamilton

Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, thats a shame. After 3 years as teammates, I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn't.

=)) =)) Somebody take his phone away before he inserts his foot any further into his mouth =)) =))

On second thought, it is rather amusing ;) :))

=)) =)) Bless him. I feel bad for him as the abused he got was really over the top :(

The funny thing is Jenson never even followed him in the first place.

He hasn't tweeted since he apologised, probably wise, but a shame at the same time as I hate seeing media bots run drivers twitter pages, it's nice that he is open and honest.
Just a bit of self editing is needed at time :))

He needs to almost sit down with someone before he posts!

In other news,

Massa to stay at Ferrari as we predicted and Hulkenburg to Sauber! Some sources also predicting that Massa will end up there at the end of next year too.

And were you aware that Jake Humphrey is leaving the BBC this year?

I'm glad Massa is staying, obviously I'd have of preferred Eddie Jordan's tip of Adrian Sutil, but I like Massa, I think he'd be a nice for for Sauber actually.

I just hope Kobayashi is still around :( I can't loose another favourite driver :(( :(( not having Sutil on the grid this year has been horrible, and it'll probably stay the same next year (can't see where he'd fit in now, unless he goes back to FI which I can't see happening but am willing to be proved wrong). I love KK, have done since his first race when he took over for Glock. Yes he made a silly mistake on Sunday, but it would be a shame to loose him.

And I'm glad to hear that Ferrari and Red Bull have rubbished the Vettel rumours :ymapplause: :ymapplause: even though it could still happen I really hope it doesn't. Still can't see why Seb would want to do it 8-}

I can understand Jakes decision, his wife is having their first child and the new football job means he doesn't have to travel the world.

It's going to be tough to replace him though, the chemistry between him DC and EJ will be hard to recreate again.
But DC is really coming into his own this year, his grid walks are really good :ymapplause: , on a par with MB's I reckon.

I don't follow any other sports so can't think off the top of my head any anchor men who'd fit the bill.

Although I think Jeremy Clarkson should do it, that would be hilarious =)) =)) (and he's an F1 fan).

I think Clarkson would only be able to do features, he would annoy the drivers too much :')

I've heard rumors about Sutil's return, Force India have seats?

Yeah now that Hulkenberg has confirmed at Sauber I could see Sutil back at FI, he's been at most of the European races as a FI guest so who knows what's been going on behind the scenes.

Whether it will happen is another matter :)) .
I just hope if he goes back, that the car is competitive next year, they've had a couple of good results (4th places) but from what I can see (and I haven't been paying that much attention to them this year unlike last year) the car isn't the best.
And I hope he beats the snot out of Paul diResta =)) =)) =)) =)) =))
