I couldn't imagine going back to before Sky+. As you must have gathered, like you, I spend most of my evenings on the internet so I later catch up with all the 'interesting' programs that I might have missed whilst Mrs W watches 'Goole's next top model' or some other 'X Factor on ice in the jungle' crap.

Sky is almost worth the fee for the Discovery channel alone.

And I also hate the Murdoch dynasty. ;) but I hate the BBC feminist/lesbian mafia even more. ;)

You pay your money for Sky and then choose what you watch and when. You pay the BBC and just get what you are given. I know a few (female) BBC producers and assistants who cheerfully inform me that the audience 'demo-graph' that they are seeking is the 12 to 25 year old female audience.

But then the BBC comes up with - Hawking.. Holmes .. New Tricks.. Dr Who.. etc etc and my argument disappears in a plethora of male dominated award winning programmes. ............. I'll get me coat.. :(

I don't decry anyone for having Sky - personally it doesn't interest me, theres enough crap to wade through on free view tho' I do confess if I could have Discovery & National Geographic for £10 per month I may consider it.

My beef is with BBC1 selling out the F1 fans who can't afford Sky simply because they don't want other terrestrial channels screening it. If the BBC showed half and say Channel 4 showed half there is no conflict and the BBC would certainly get credit being the best. I wonder how many Sky viewers will forsake BBC and now watch on Sky.

The last terrestrial channel to show F1 live was ITV1 and they were abysmal. The advert breaks became more and more frequent and lasted far too long. To the point where they actually missed the end of a race.

The recent BBC coverage has been the best for many a long year. If Sky employ Brundle, Humphreys and co then most F1 fans will be very happy.

The question we should be asking is why doesn't the BBC Head of Sport ( Barbara Slater ) want any male dominated sports on the BBC anymore???

MOD wrote:I was pretty annoyed when I first heard the news that to fund 2 weeks of Wimbledon (yawn) the whole annual F1 coverage had to be scrapped - almost.

I wonder how much the athletics coverage costs the BBC and women's golf?? Even Peter Alliss said during one of the recently aired women's golf tournaments on the BBC that even women don't watch women's golf. Don't even get me started on women's soccer or cricket.. :(

I can remember a time when Rugby Union and even Rugby League matches were shown on the BBC.

As the Head of BBC sport is a woman you can see why F1 had to go. Allegedly when she took over she asked how many women drivers there were in F1 and when she heard the answer - well the rest is now history. :(

I am just thankful that Channel 4, or worse still ITV1, didn't get the contract. At least SKY will show the races Uninterrupted by adverts . :ymapplause:

I think one perhaps one statement answers the other! :))

For those who can not afford Sky I'm sure they will take races with adverts over not seeing a race.

Personally highlights just don't float my boat.

And I still say it's BBCs attitude that stinks!!!

This makes interesting reading....

So do I, but you have to watch the archive footage that your Dad told you about to see any of the above.

Well done JB on the win \:D/ :D

Well done Seb on the 2011 championship :D :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

I'm gutted for the two Force India's though, so close to the points. Safety car ruined their strategy sadly :(

well done JB.................... :ymapplause:

but I still think the points systems needs a serious change to make it harder to win the championship until nearer the end of the season.. ;)

How about this for point scoring.

if 18 drivers finish, then the winner gets 18 points and the 18th place gets 1 point ;)

all drivers deserve to get points if thye finish a race................... :D

seems fair to me.......... :)

It wouldn't have mattered what the points scoring tally is because the simple fact is that Seb's lowest finishing position this year was 4th. End of.

I've never been very good at Maths, but even with the 2009 points scoring system he'd still be waaay ahead of everyone else with 133 points to Jenson's 84 (if I've added it up correctly) with only 40 left up for grabs, so Seb would still be champ.
