For me, this news is great! :)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/14220866.stm

I have a fondness for Team Lotus and was disappointed for both Chandhok and Senna this year for not being able to prove themselves in a car that can finish races in 2011.

Karun is a really nice guy too, couldn't get near him at Duxford for fans and media, then he was called away to do some sponsorship stuff :(

This was as close as I got

Note the looks he's giving me =)) =))

This also made me chuckle too

Q. (Adam Hay-Nicholls – Metro) Adrian, I heard you went to the Nordschleife yesterday and had a small accident with a rather expensive car. Is that true?

AS: It was on Tuesday, yes.

Q. (Adam Hay-Nicholls – Metro) Can you tell us what happened?

AS: Well, it was made up to be very dramatic but it was just a technical problem that I had. I went out of the pits and something was broken at the rear of the car so I lost control at a very slow speed and I touched a barrier at about 10km/h and that's it. Nothing really major was broken. I stopped the car there because it was not good to go back to the pits like that and I changed the car. There were a few more cars there, same ones and I had a good day, three great laps in this Gumpert Apollo, a very fast car, very amazing around this place and that was it. When I read the newspaper the next day, I was laughing really hard because they said I lost all my teeth and I just made it out of the carbon wreck of this car and I thought, OK, well, that was lucky then. So I'm in one piece and in good shape and it was just nothing to mention, really.

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Can see why the Beeb would take this route. They get a lot bigger return from Wimbledon than F1. Wimbledon is a sport that the Beeb syndicates and sells to the World generating income for them to subsidise other programming; whereas they just buy F1 and get no return. Still, if people are that bothered, they could pay for Sky and subsidise Rupert Murdoch's empire - just don't discuss it on your 'phone beforehand.

BTW, I detest Wimbledon too.

I perfectly understand that if the BBC can not afford it, rather than lose all races to go into partnership is a good option - BUT it has been said Ch 4 were willing to pay what Sky reportedly has and it would have meant ALL fans could continue to watch it.

Personally I think it's arrogance beyond belief from the BBC to ask Sky to stop other terrestrial channels from screening it.

I was pretty annoyed when I first heard the news that to fund 2 weeks of Wimbledon (yawn) the whole annual F1 coverage had to be scrapped - almost.

I wonder how much the athletics coverage costs the BBC and women's golf?? Even Peter Alliss said during one of the recently aired women's golf tournaments on the BBC that even women don't watch women's golf. Don't even get me started on women's soccer or cricket.. :(

I can remember a time when Rugby Union and even Rugby League matches were shown on the BBC.

As the Head of BBC sport is a woman you can see why F1 had to go. Allegedly when she took over she asked how many women drivers there were in F1 and when she heard the answer - well the rest is now history. :(

I am just thankful that Channel 4, or worse still ITV1, didn't get the contract. At least SKY will show the races Uninterrupted by adverts . :ymapplause:

That's OK Ian IF you have Sky!! As I said before I personally wouldn't pay Sky a bean. I don't watch enough TV now to pay £460 [ish] pa and I'm damned sure I wouldn't just for F1.

I'd happily take the adverts.

As it's not my house I have no say over getting Sky (or not getting Sky as the case may be).

I'm just very dissapointed, the BBC coverage has been really good and the MB/DC comms has been getting better and better each race.
Although I want to punch DC every time he kisses Paul Di Resta's bum ~x( ~x( =))

I don't care if Sky will show it without ads, I won't pay anything to Murdoch willingly. F1 is like football; there is too much money involved, and it will implode - the sooner, the better.
