I've got into it after going twice a week to a nearby driving range at lunchtime with a workmate.

Suprised I enjoyed it, and getting reasonable too. Might even consider getting a few "sticks" of my own and trying a round sometime =))

But golf at a golf club isn't a hobby to enjoy - its all rules and regulations designed to keep out the hoi palloi .... don't wear this - can't wear that - don't chip from here - don't wear spikes there - doff your cap to the presidents cat - make sure your bats are better than his bats - only wear one poofy glove - don't chew gum - don't p&ss on the fairway - spend £300 on one bat because some pretentious tosser tells it it'll make the little ball go further.......

Its not en enjoyable relaxing hobby its a friggin nightmare of anal retention and twits with too much money and far too much time =)) =))

Stick with the driving range - you're in the dry - you can wear shorts and your favourite jumper not some Pringle thing with diamond patterns on it - you can borrow their bats - and you don't have to walk after the stupid ball ... :D :D :D :D :D

OOoooo I do love golf =)) =)) =)) =)) =)) =))

I don't play golf but have friends who do - I even hate going into the club house with them for a drink - the rules are worse than the Officers Mess!!!

Talk about feeling like the need to plump the cushions when I leave! ~x( ~x( ~x(

I do. Just getting back into it after a long break. Never to the membership or club house stage though, not my thing.
Municipal and one or two other courses are fine for me.

I was (get's abacus out) 32, blimey.

When I was 12, I was blissfully unaware of what a Scunthorpe was (thankfully). My life was filled with Victors, Vulcans, Lightning's, MRCA, visiting B52's etc. Those WERE the days :D
