American Sports fans?

Postby SnailRFC » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:31 pm

Any on here at all?

Am a massive American Football fan myself (San Francisco 49ers) and also follow Ice Hockey (San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks), Baseball (San Francisco Giants), Basketball (Chicago Bulls) and NASCAR. My mates think I'm a "wannabe yank" but hey ho! Be good to chat US sports if anyone else is a fan anyway.

Cheers
Brian

I'm a big ice hockey fan, New York Rangers mainly (hence the NYR and 88 and 11 in my name :D), although I have a soft spot for the Dallas Stars and the 'what ever they call them selves now a days' Ducks.
And Nottingham Panthers :D

I did try watching baseball, but I fell asleep during the 2nd innings so gave that up =))

Have been a 'Twins' fan since I was 9 and saw my first ever live game in the Metrodome. I can stil remember parts of it vividly too - arriving in the 3rd inning (cos my uncle took us to the 'old' ballpark - being demolished at the time),where we were sat, the opposition (tigers - booo), the fact that the tigers manager was 'ejected', the singing at the 7th inning stretch (take me out to the ballgame........) and the catch over the outfield wall, to stop a home run, in the top of the 9th to win the match by the Twins legendary centrefielder, No 34 Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirby Puckett. :ymapplause:

Also a Green Bay fan - but have yet to go to Lambeau Field. Well, would you go to Green Bay in the middle of winter? =))

As for the hockey and basketball - nah.

The most exciting game I have ever been to, 5-5 went to OT then to a shoot out, Rangers won \:D/ \:D/

Saw Jagr tie two rangers records with a goal and assist (tied Adam Graves single season goal record and Jean Ratelle for single season points).

I used to like watching the LA Raiders back in the '90's :p
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

I do follow a few teams every now and then to see how they're getting on...

American Football: Indianapolis Colts, University of Michigan (Wolverines)
Baseball: Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs

Also like watching NASCAR too :)

My one and only live Baseball game between the Washington Nationals and Florida Marlins at the RFK Stadium in Washington DC before their move to their new home at Nationals Park.

Good to see!

I'm a massive 49ers fan, looking forward to seeing them at Wembley in October, also follow Cal in the College game as well as 2-3 other Colleges across America. Also loosely follow most of the other US sports Blackhawks and Sharks in Hockey, Bulls in Basketball, Giants in Baseball.

I have been to Chicago to see Football, Hockey and Basketball, yet to get out to San Francisco yet though, hopefully this year if possible.

Like NASCAR as well, although with no coverage here in the UK it's a little more difficult to now follow so usually have to stream it online where possible.
