I don't know whether I'm happy about this or not to tell the truth.
I'm not what you'd call a fan of his, but it'll be interesting seeing what he can do.

As soon as Mercedes GP (or was it someone else lol) said they wanted an all German line up I knew he'd sign for them.

In other news, the BBC are more than welcome to do this as a feature in an upcoming show =)) =))

Although to be fair, even in English I still wouldn't be listening =P~ =)) =))

:p

One received correspondence on the matter today by a fellow Formula One fan, chap and dear friend Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Miles Hudson Harlington-Smyth, 1st Baron Harlington-Smyth VC, KG, GCB, CBE, GCVO, CMG, KBE, MC & Bar, DSO, LVO, DFC & Bar, AFC, RAF and expressed his delight quote:

"Is say, one is sat here with a malt; smoking a bent apple pipe with a gentle vanilla shag coupled with a wry grin at the prospect of those English chaps taking the fight to those pesky jerry's. One feel's jolly excited, this takes one back, reminiscing over those Battle of Britain days where, the English chaps were the victors, and one expects the jerry's to surrender with no hesitation!"

looks like they have the beginnings of a car!

i was reading up on USF1 last night - seems that the major financial backer is the co-founder of YouTube - i wonder what sponsorship logos will be flying round the track? :-?

Danf - whilst it might be a Murkin team, it seems that they will be using a Britoid engine - Cosworth :D

USF1 as an organization really don't have a lot to
say and announce their milestones as they are
reached. I haven't heard anything about crash
testing (intentional or otherwise) but I do know
that a lot of the negative speculation going
around is simply a result of their being somewhat
tight-lipped. They don't have much of a PR effort
since they're just concentrating on what's most
important right now. Even the website isn't much,
but I will definitely be watching it for news on a
daily basis.

And SM, there is no doubt that Cosworth is a great
company with a proud history, but it does need to
be said that it was Ford who made huge infusions
of cash back in the early 60s that allowed Cosworth
to survive and thrive.

I do agree with you, Nick, but that was one
HUGE cash infusion they got way back when.
Ford believed in them and bankrolled the
operation. I for one am glad they did!

And Mister Blythe, I have absolutely no idea
what's going to happen with USF1, but I am
sure as Hell going to enjoy finding out!

Oops, I seem to have hit a nerve there. Actually, I wasn't aware of any negative speculation and it was intended as a serious question.

The video appears to show a chassis being designed and built from scratch, and established teams have in the past been caught out by crash certification failures after even fairly minor mods. I seem to recall Adrian Newey had some significant redesign to do a couple of years ago.

The requirements for both front end and side impacts are VERY severe these days. :ymapplause:

No, you missed all my nerves......

I just search for USF1 news every day and there
is a lot of speculation being presented as fact in
the Euromedia concerning their activities and a
lot of anti-Murkin sentiments expressed, especially
in some of the blogs.

My whole take on things is that I will be very happy
if they appear at all and satisfied if they put in a
respectable showing. A few podium appearances
would have me over the moon. Some of those who
seem to be having such a good time speculating
act as if the two principals are babes in the woods
regarding Formula Racing which is obviously not
the case. It's amazing to me how people are so
eager to shoot off their mouths when they must
know there's a good chance they might wind-up
looking stoopid! In this case they remind me of the
poo-pooers of Vulcan from a few years ago....
