I've tended to ignore F-1 ever since Senna died,
but I still love those 50s - 60s - 70s days.....

While looking around for Phil Hill stuff yesterday
I came across these two and more.

ENJOY!

PS: Today's machines are NOTHING to me compared with the "old"
narrow-tired ones up to the early winged-era cars -- not to mention
the DRIVERS!!!!! The word "Giants" comes to mind....
I like to do my planning retroactively!

Judging by the latest tests and Autosport's analysis of the times, Ross Brawn's chaps stand a good chance in the early races. Whether they can maintain the pace of development through the season to stay there remains to be seen. Autosport reckons on long runs Toyota and BMW are the closest to Brawn, with Ferrari in 4th. McLaren show as last, which reflects Martin Whitmarsh's expressed concerns that they've got something wrong in the new aero package.

I'm not a fan of the new way of deciding the champion: number of wins, irrespective of points. Can see it now: 3 races left, drivers close on points, yet championship over :( . I see Schumi and Alonso have even agreed with each other that it's not a good idea! What does anyone else think?

i disagree - the 'most wins' concept vs total points will provide for some exciting racing toward the en of the season.

instead of a driver only needing 5th place to be champion, and therefore cruising to victory, he'll want to be first - aka more overtaking! :D

But it's their job - it's what they chose to do and what they get paid enormous amounts of money to do...

No one makes them do it - as SM says if they don't want to take risks they should be mountain climbers or potholers or something else less risky :)) :))

Im not sure about this change. I like sticking with tradition. I never liked it when they changed the pts system a while back from 6pts - 1pts to 10pts - 1pts :(

The F1 points system always used to reward the winner: 9-6-4-3-2-1 became 10-6-4-3-2-1 for this very reason. Then the FIA decided that Schumi and Ferrari were winning too easily and too early in the season and introduced the current system that rewards consistency: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1, whilst also giving the little teams some points. Now they're tinkering again - just revert to the 10-6-4-3-2-1 and everything will be fine!!

The teams wanted 12-9-6-5-4-3-2-1 as the 2009 points system...

Bet Keke Rosberg's glad the new regime wasn't in when he raced: he only won one race in his championship-winning season!

But on the other hand you could argue he was the most consistent ... I mean why should someone who has 18 second places lose out to someone who has 10 firsts and 8 no placements.... Its a travesty really :(

Exactly my point - the points system should favour the race winners, whilst at the same time rewarding consistency. As it always has until the last few seasons...

i think it'll also FINALLY do away with team-tactics - using one team driver to block others so that his team-mate can win.

hell, who cares - at least there will be no bloody adverts this year! :ymparty:
