Postby Ray C » Mon Aug 11, 2014 9:42 am

Can anyone confirm the flyover will take place of 558 & 2 Lanc's on Thursday 21st.....?
& if so what time....? I'm trying to cancel another commitment in order to attend the event.

I don't really understand what this event is meant to be :)) . Are they flying together? because I read it as they will land separately and then be positioned for photos on the ground (hopefully with 607 visible in the background :D as sadly she can't be moved :( ).
I hope I'm wrong as I'd love to see them flying in formation. BUT that's going to be one heck of a photo shoot even if they are on the ground \:D/ \:D/ :D :D

I'm not sure if I'm going, £10 per car is fine, but people will (try to) be queued up to get in at stupid o'clock (until the police move them on :)) ) and I can't see us doing that =)) =)) And it's first come first served and once it's full it's full so there's not much point lurking on the back roads if it's all on the ground.

My advice is get there as early as possible ;) .

From the CWHM Facebook page ....

'On another note, the Vulcan is now confirmed to fly with the two Lancasters on August 21st launching from RAF Waddington'.

For who was that press release from the MOD that the link does not even work written for????

Questions... for clarification

..Do I take it that there is unlimited parking at Waddington for members of the public

..Will the public be admitted to view the planes on the ground or restricted to viewing area only?

..Is there a cost to attend this

...What time is it planned for

..Will xh558 and the Lancs do a display before heading off ...There are likely to be lots and lots of folk there viewing!

Well that's one question answered \:D/ :D

Also just this second seen it on twitter the same from one of the BBMF Lanc Pilots

Tim Dunlop ‏@Twigs95 1h
Meeting this morning about formation with @XH558 and the #LancasterBomber 's from @CWHM and @RAFBBMF #avro #exciting

Exciting indeed.

I don't know if you want someone to actually answer those questions but I've put answers anyway =))

..Do I take it that there is unlimited parking at Waddington for members of the public
No, when the PAVE (temporary viewing area, same bit of grass/car park they use for Arrivals at the air show) is full that's it. There's room for a good number of cars though. No stopping on the A15. Don't know about the WAVE (full time viewing area), but I suspect they will have to charge the same as the PAVE as they did for departures day.

..Will the public be admitted to view the planes on the ground or restricted to viewing area only?
Yes, but only as far as where they will put barriers. It's says the aircraft will be positioned close to the PAVE.

..Is there a cost to attend this
£10 per car.

...What time is it planned for
Doesn't say. They all have to be else where that day so I'd think it would be late morning/lunchtime/very ealy afternoon but do not hold me to that I'm just guessing.

..Will xh558 and the Lancs do a display before heading off ...There are likely to be lots and lots of folk there viewing!
Doesn't say.

Hopefully that works.

I'm even more confused about this event now. Doesn't sound like any flypast either.

There's no way we'll be able to make the PAVE at 8:15am. Not when we have to go through Lincoln at rush hour :)) :)) Plus I can't see me elbowing my way to the front to take photos of them :)) I think we'll give it a miss. Maybe we'll go to one of our back up locations that we have for the show arrivals ;) :)) for their take off.
I hope people going have a brilliant time and Waddington is active for you :D (hopefully any regular aircraft movements aren't stopped that day) and you take loads of photos :ymapplause: :D .

According to the RAF source, the Lancs will take off followed by XH558 and immediately leave the visual circuit.
As XH558 is arriving on Wednesday that means no 3 ship flypast.
I am quite disappointed by this :(
Hoping they squeeze a flypast in but not looking like it.

According to today's TVOC newsletter, they won't be flying, just static for photos, and they are asking people to buy shares just to cover the cost of going to Waddington.

2 hawks, not hunters - I would suspect one is a photo ship and the other a whipper in so would expect the Lancs at least will be doing a photo shoot.

Only guess work on my part tho'.

This makes interesting reading........ from CWHM facebook posted yesterday around 4.00pm

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum From what we understand, at this time, the Avro aircraft will depart Waddington and formate together (with 2 Hawks) but will not be doing a flypast at RAF Waddington. Approval to where the formation flies is pending and then I'm sure RAF Waddington will announce.

and this morning when looked at the Waddington page it is down.

you got to think its all a bit silly getting all hyped up filling PAVE and not at least doing a flyby with the three birds together ~x(
