There will be no air show next year due to repairs and extension works to Waddington's runway.

I only do it with a long lead.

Yes speaking with the air show office a couple of weeks ago they didn't know what was going happen so this decision is new. I wonder if they will look for another venue......

I'm sad but I'm not shocked really.
I went to a couple of shows at Scampton in the early 90's, don't know if they have the infrastructure to host a show now though.

Wouldn't it be nice if they used Scampton next year.

Scampton would need too much work for 1 year in it's present form and I hear the runway was resurfaced but not as strong as it was.

Not to mention where do you park everyone, there's lots of grass to the N of the runway, but that would mean having to either bring people in on small roads (single track) or cross the runway, I suppose there's space at the top end A15 side of runway.
As I said, they no longer have the infrastructure. A15 barely copes with the Lincs show, and the knock on traffic effects from that basically effect the whole of Lincoln. We live up that way and can't even get out of our road when the show's on, it's nightmare, although I guess that's how residents feel about the Waddington air show.

Saying that, I'd love a Scampton air show! :D Be nice not to have to cross Lincoln to get there, it's such a long way =)) =)) =)) =))

Apparently the whole of Lincoln was grid locked from before 8 this morning - we went into town at lunch time and it was brilliant never been on a Saturday when it was so empty, must remember next year - oh no need! =))
